So we've asked the lovely GM Razia for an interview and she was excited to be asked. Apparently she had never been interviewed before while working at Outspark! A great opportunity for us to present you the first fun interview with GM Razia. Enjoy

So... Razia... Is there a meaning behind your name?
Of course! I love playing Magic: The Gathering and one of my favorite card sets of all time was the Ravnica block. There is a card called "Razia, Boros Archangel" that I really liked and she is the leader of the awesome Boros guild. I always thought she had a cool name too, so when it came time to choose a GM name I thought of her.
So when did you start working at Outspark? And did you start off as a GM or did you work your way up?
I started in November of last year, so I've been working at Outspark now for about six months now. I did start as a GM, but I was an intern for three months before being officially hired. I learned A LOT of stuff in those first three months and I've been learning more and more ever since.
Is there something you like the most and least about being a GM?
My favorite part of being a GM has to be creating contests for the Forum MVP. It's so much fun to think of amazing things people can write about or design, and then to see the actual results is just the coolest thing in the world. We have so many talented artists and writers that participate in those weekly contests and it makes me so happy to see new people join for the first time. My least favorite part is not being able to help everyone that comes to you for advice. There are situations in which I really feel bad that something happened to a player, but there is nothing I am able to do about it. We're the front lines of the company, so we're the ones that receive most of the blame if something goes wrong. It's tough to not take the insults and flame threads personally sometimes, but we have to remain professional.
Have you ever literally facepalmed yourself after reading a player's question/forumpost/chat?
YES. I play a lot of MMOs and hang out in chat rooms, so I try to put myself in the player's shoes when it comes to certain situations, but there are times... I just don't know. I'll explain how something works for the thirtieth time and people will still ask about it. Stuff like that just makes you go "Really?".
What would you do if you came into the office one day and saw a bunch of post-its on your screen, covering it up completely?
Yell out "STRAEEEEGAAAAA!!" as dramatically as possible, because I know he would probably be the one behind it. Him or RoboPanda. He's always messing with us. ::glares at RoboPanda::
What would be the first thing you do when you get into the office? My guess is running around the office screaming "FIRE IN THE HOLE!"
Very close! I immediately check the forums to see if anything is currently on fire and then decide what needs to be done. After that it's breakfast time and I slowly crawl my way into the pantry for food and hot chocolate.
Have you ever tried firing a nerf gun to the other GM's? If so, how did they react?
I haven't, unfortunately. The office does need more Nerf guns... did you know there is a Nerf shotgun? It looks so ridiculously fun. We do throw stuff at each other quite a bit, though. Phibes likes to throw little chocolate eggs, for example. Those things hurt. >_>
Ok back to the more serious questions. What is your favorite map and monster?
Favorite map... would have to be Moonlight Tomb! The whole place reminds me of Halloween and I love how the sky changes colors too. Favorite mob is a little harder. There are so many good ones to choose! There are funny ones and then ones that are so evil looking it's awesome. I think I have to pick Cornelius. He's such a great monster, even if he is a pain to kill. He's not much fun to fight, but he's so much fun to spawn in events. People always know who he is as soon as he appears and there are just screams of "CORNYYY!!". I wouldn't spawn these guys unless I know the players can handle him, so it's also fun to see mobs of people take one down.
What's your most memorable in-game experience?
There are so many fond memories that I have of Fiesta, so let me think... I really liked doing the "Rabbit Hole Party" event last month because instead of having a huge crowd of people, we (WeaponX and myself) got to hang out with 10 people or so from each server. So we really got to talk to them and get to know what they think of the game and who they are. Some of the players are so funny and I have a screenshot of this perfectly timed quote between a player and WeaponX. I'll have to show everyone sometime.
What's your biggest "whoops" moment at Outspark?
Oh, I know! When I first had access to the list of monsters we could spawn I was looking through it and came across something called a "Mini Dragon." I had played Fiesta before this, but I guess I had never come across this monster, so I decided to spawn him, thinking it would be a cute little baby dragon. I was so wrong. I was in Roumen at the time and I decided to spawn six of them... I killed almost everyone in the town. I panicked and called for Straega to come over and he told me what to do. He thought it was funny, but I was so embarrassed!
What's the worst job you've ever had? And how long did you work there?
Hm, worst job... all of the jobs I've had in the past has had their pros and cons. Although, I have to admit that working at Toys R Us during the holiday season was one of the worst experiences of my life. People get so mean! It was ridiculous when we would be out of a certain video game and the kid that wanted it understood it was out of stock, but the parent would stand there yelling at me for 10 minutes. I left soon after the holidays, so I was there for a total of seven months or so.
What is your opinion about the FiestaGamer website and forums and what would you rate it as a Fiesta fansite?
It's so different now! I absolutely love the new layout of the site... it's looks much more professional now and it's a million times easier find everything you want to see-- organization is amazing! I think FiestaGamer is an awesome site for anyone wanting to learn more about the game and to anyone that wants to find information that comes from a player's perspective. I would rate a site like Fiesta Gamer very high, it's an extremely valuable resource to any Fiesta player.
We need more members, would you recommend FiestaGamer to anyone? *evil smile*
I would! I often reference various fan-made sites to see what players think of a certain quest or item, and I think anyone that needs help with something will be able to find it on FiestaGamer. It's a great place for newcomers to interact with older players and for them to share their joys and frustrations. It's a great way to meet new people and to improve your overall game experience.
Do you have any advice to improve FiestaGamer?
Hm, if I had to improve something... I would add a lot more pictures and graphics, just to make the overall appearance catch the eye a little bit more. I do appreciate that everything is extremely well organized and professional, but I think adding a little more fun and personality would really help draw new players to the site. I know I get distracted really easily when it comes to trying new things, and I think capturing the attention of the audience is a very important thing to consider when designing a website.
So what do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time? What's that? Just kidding... I play a lot of other video games and I also play Magic quite a bit. I'll invite people over to play on the weekends or when I go back home I play with a lot of friends there. Other than that, I just do normal stuff. Watch movies, go get food, hang out with people. I love to bake! I try to do that when I have a spare moment too. I make these amazing chocolate cloud cookies and oatmeal cookies with cinnamon chips. Sooo good!
What is your favorite videogame genre (MMORPG, FPS, RTS, etc)
Oo, this is a hard one. I think I have to go with RPG. It's such a wide genre that most of my favorite games fall into, and it's always fun to go on an adventure and see where the plot leads you. I also like RTS too, thought I have to admit that micro-management does give me a bit of a headache after too long. MMOs are always good too, it's so much fun to go questing with your friends and then laugh at them when your class gets an awesome skill that they don't have. :P
